This link between cooperatives and the green economy is represented in sectors such as agriculture; sustainable tourism; energy; waste management; environmental education; sustainable construction and management of forests and natural areas.

Worker cooperatives are already developing those activities effectively and efficiently, contribuiting an added value. In this regard, the cooperative business model has emerged as a key actor to develop each of the aspects that defines the green economy.

It is positioned as vital for the economic development of entrepreneurial reality and the creation of stable employment in the communities.
Worker cooperatives, their organizational structure, their values and orientation towars the territory, are an ideal model for the development of activities linked to the so-called green economy activities because they emphasize the use of local resources in the area, the study concludes.
