Antonina Guarella, Secretary of CECOP at the time, remembers him as one of the greatest scholars of the cooperative movement, an enthusiastic author who combined his passion for writing with the gift of speech and eloquence. He handled the pen and the voice in a masterly way. Many of us were speechless in his mastery of words but also in his wisdom as a simple man. This is what made of him an extraordinary cooperator.
For the 20th anniversary of CECOP, François Espagne wrote a text (only available in French) that perfectly illustrates his qualities as a writer. The text tells the genesis of the creation of CECOP and it is a precious testimony of the stakes and realities that faced the cooperatives of industry and services between 1979 and 2000.
Twenty years later, while we celebrate our 40-year anniversary, it leaves us one of the most extraordinary contributors in the history of CECOP, without whom we would not be where we are today.
