Social cooperatives concrete experiences On 21 October, Gloria Salas, from the social cooperative L’Olivera in Spain, and Mario Paffi, from the Viseras cooperative in Italy, will present their experiences of how social cooperatives develop local communities. This article includes a focus on the Italian cooperative Viseras: In the heart of Sardinia, the cooperative Viseras ensures the discovery of local heritage, a contact with the population and also local product tasting sessions.

“With this programme, immersion in the identity and heritage of Mamoiada does not end with the visit of the museums the cooperative runs but includes a series of opportunities involving the local people and by extension local players as well”, the President Mario Paffi says. The cooperative has developed strong links between the various local actors, which proves to be the most powerful tools for regional development.

This collaboration gave birth to a series of touristic activities such as visits of the craft workshops that produce the masks that are one of the museum displays; a bakery allowing visitors to watch the preparation of typical desserts and taste them; food facilities and Mamoiada archaeological sites visits.
